Dear friends,
Well, here I am in the middle of week three! This week I am in the kitchen (as mentioned in a post a couple of posts down); when not sweating bucketfulls down in the kitchen I have been busy cleaning up dorms that the children at this camp have used (and sweating bucketfulls there). Well, "bucketfulls" is a bit of an exaggeration - it just feels like it!! :)
On Saturday all of us will travel to various other locations to do two more weeks of English camp. My Chiayi team and I will go to Chiayi for our camp joined by two other teachers, Zack and Nichole. I am leading the camps so pray for me as I organize large groups, small groups, activities and worksheets. Pray that I would be a good leader and also be effective as a storyteller for large groups!!
After the camps, we jump right into the beginning of the new school year (August 28th)! Right now, I'm a little bit nervous about getting everything figured out and meeting all the new people that I will be working for, especially because I don't speak much Chinese!! I'm sure that everything will work out though!
Yesterday I happened to have the afternoon off and so did a little shopping with one of the TAs, Irene. It was pretty fun to walk around Hsinchu and look in a bunch of shops. I actually needed to go shopping to buy a cell phone and yay! I found one! I'll take a picture of it so you can all see it (like you're really interested). We went to about 5 different cell phone stores to price check and once I had decided on the one I wanted, Irene managed to bargain the price down even further! We then looked through some clothing stores and popped in at the bubble tea place. I found out that I am an L-XL in Taiwan sizing! Hmmmm.... They all think I'm so big. It's kind of funny.
Well, I must get to packing. Our big luggage is being shipped to Chiayi tomorrow because we can only take a couple of small carryons with us on the train. I don't think I've really accumulated much of anything, but somehow it doesn't all want to fit back in my bags!! :) Anyway... till next time! May the Lord bless and keep you all!
Love,
Christy
